With the aim of discovering how non-governmental organizations (NGOs) are working in the field of corporate social responsibility in Vietnam, and how to encourage the participation of NGOs in the advancement and performance of corporate social responsibility (CSR) in Vietnam, the research was performed. The study consists of five chapters. Chapter 1 provides the rationale, the aims, the research questions, and the methodology used in the research including the description of the participants, the data collection instrument, the data collection and analysis procedures. Chapter 2 reviews the definitions of terms NGOs and CSR in the Vietnamese and international contexts. Chapter 3 describes the results of the study and discussions based on them. Then, the paper suggests some implications for support NGOs working in CSR sector. Chapter 4 is the last one in the paper. Firstly, a summary of findings is presented. Secondly, some limitations of the study and suggestions for future research are also given. There are two obvious conclusions. First, based on the viewpoints of non-governmental organizations in this research, and on the basis of a broader study on the non-governmental organizations, it can be said that so far, the involvement of NGOs in CSR in Vietnam remains little, and the knowledge of the goals and the practical activities of NGOs on CSR is also very limited. Of course, some non-governmental organizations are engaged in activities related to CSR, but these organizations are not considered such activities as a separate subject or field. Secondly, from the first conclusion, there is a minimal knowledge of the capacity of NGOs to participate in promoting the practices of CSR in the eyes of business sector, NGOs themselves and the other stakeholders as well. Therefore, it is necessary to have some implications to break the gap between NGOs and CSR.
